I LOST A DAY
The day I chose to opt out.
I chose instead to lie down
I chose instead to be silent
Like a beached whale
Like a seal parked
At the edge of the ocean.
I lost a day.
Everything stopped
Time stood still -
Well, it did for me.
I blocked out the day
Curled under a blanket.
I’ not going out today, I said to myself
I’m not going anywhere.
I lost a day.
Morning turned to afternoon
And I rolled over.
Perhaps this wasn’t what I wanted
I hid from view
I’m staying put
Like a statue frozen in time.
The day lost me.
